The sash limiters are designed to control how high the window sash can go.
Engage the sash limiters to prevent the window from opening fully, allowing you to let in a breeze while adding a layer of security.

Steps to Close Your Window:

To close, use the top sash or the lift rail and push the window down.
Disengage the sash limiters if you have them engaged.

Locking Your Window:

Make sure the top sash is all the way up and the bottom sash is all the way down.
Finally, engage the locks, and your window is secure!

Disengage the locks at the top of the window. If you’re not sure if your windows are locked or not, look at the indicators on either side of the locks to ensure they’re in the unlocked position.
Grab the bottom lift rail and gently push up to open the window.
To lower the top sash, grab the top lift rail and pull it down.

Using the Sash Limiter:

The sash limiter controls how high the bottom sash can rise or how low the top sash can go.
It allows for ventilation while keeping pets, children, or unwanted guests from accessing your house through your windows.

Closing and Locking Your Window:

Ensure the top sash is pushed all the way up and the bottom sash is all the way down.
Engage the locks to secure your window.

How To Remove The Screen From Your Double Hung Windows

Steps to Remove Your Window Screen:

Disengage the window locks to make sure the sash can move freely.
Raise the bottom sash using the lift rail.
Push the screen towards the spring side – either left or right, depending on your window.
Carefully pull the screen out from the frame.

How To Clean Your Double Hung Windows And Avoid Alignment Mistakes

Here’s a guide to help you clean your windows and fix any problems that may arise.

Steps for Cleaning Your Window:

Disengage the locks at the top of the window. If you’re not sure if your windows are locked or not, look at the indicators on either side of the locks to ensure they’re in the unlocked position.
Use the lift rail at the bottom of the window to open the window.
Press in on the tilt mechanisms on both sides of the locks and gently tilt the window towards you.
While keeping the window level, clean the window with glass cleaner and paper towels or microfiber cloths.

Fixing a Disengaged Sash:

If the sash disengages from the balance, don’t worry! Here’s how to fix it:

Tilt the sash and remove it from the window balance and frame. Set it aside safely.
Use a flathead screwdriver to carefully adjust the balance. Insert the screwdriver and while holding it down with your other hand, gently turn it left or right. The balance is spring-loaded, so this prevents it from shooting up.
Adjust the balance heights so both sides are level with each other.
Reinsert the sash by placing the pivot pins into the balances on both sides of the window, push down slightly on the sash, and then close the window.

Your window should now be as good as new!

How To Tell If Condensation In or On Your Windows Is Normal

Condensation on your windows can be either normal or a sign of a problem. Frank Amory from Window Depot is here to help you how to tell the difference:

When Condensation Is Normal:

If you see fog or moisture on the inside or outside of your window, try to draw a smiley face with your finger.
If you can draw on the fog, it’s simply caused by the temperature and humidity differences between the inside and outside of your home.

When Condensation Is a Problem:

If the fog or moisture is between the glass panes of your double or triple-pane window, and you can’t draw a smiley face, that indicates a seal failure.
Seal failure means the seal around your window has been compromised, allowing moisture to get trapped between the panes.

How To Make A Warranty Claim For Your Replacement Windows

What You’ll Need:

A picture of the entire window: This helps the team understand the context and location of the problem.
A picture of the specific issue: Whether it’s fog between the panes or any other concern, make sure to capture a clear image.
A picture of the identifying sticker: This sticker acts like a VIN number on a car and helps us identify your specific window make and model.

Finding the Identifying Sticker:

For double or triple-pane windows:
- Disengage the locks and lower the top sash.
- Look up top, and you’ll find the identifying sticker. Make sure to capture the numbers clearly.
If the sticker is in a different location:
- Disengage the locks, raise your bottom sash, and push in the tilt mechanisms to gently lay the sash down.
- Lower the top sash, push in the tilt mechanisms, and locate the label.
